We all have multiple roles that we assume everyday. Parent, Spouse, Child, Professional, Friend, Lover… For me everyday typically includes father, husband, consultant, retailer and unknown to most of you professor. You see, in addition to all these other roles, I am also a professor of Entrepreneurial Studies at Bentley University.
This is one of my favorite roles because I get to interact with young minds from all over the world and discuss why the entrepreneurial environment in the United States is different from the rest of the world and why these differences define who we are as a nation. However, entrepreneurship is not about the environment, it fundamentally is about the individual.
Individuals who are Entrepreneurs embody the Animal Spirit that this column is named for. They are the ones who move the economy by taping into unspoken and unknown needs that resonate with the consumer. They are the job creators that Washington is always talking about. And they each have 5 characteristics that I want to discuss with you.
Individuals must have the 5 C’s to be successful entrepreneurs.
These 5 C’s are:
